In the latest of what can only be considered a spree of poor planning, Derek "Fats" Sonderfan is planning on doing a mini-tour with the disc golf association in June. Apparently, since turning pro this year, Fats has managed to convince himself that this would be a good financial decision, when in reality it actually best demonstrates Fats' inability to make proper decisions.
The tour, starting Memorial Day weekend, will take him initially to Virginia for the Virginia Open, the first time playing those two particular courses. He is pretty sure, however, that the hot tub and 'tiki golf' will make him forget any of the highly expected miserable golfing that is to ensue. From Virginia, he is planning to high-tail it out to Minnesota because really someone has to willingly travel to MN and he might as well be the person. It is possible that Fats might meet up with a longtime online friend, which is what inadvertantly triggered the desire to do such a foolish trip in the first place.
From Minnesota, Fats will be trekking down to MO for the very impressive NT (National Tour) Event, the KC Wide Open, rounding out an NT career that will, at that point, consist of only two events. After what will undoubtedly be an unspectacular finish at in Missouri, Fats will haul his exhausted carcass over to Pennsylvania, where he will compete in a fourth high-profile tournament in as many weeks in Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Flying Open. At this point, Derek will likely realize he's just wasted an awful lot of gas and lodging money and will likely go back to work with a newfound intensity the likes of which has not been seen since the Napoleonic Era.
Fear not, few fans of esoderek.com, for Fats will be chronicling his adventures in a daily blog: The Donator's Life. True to the name, there will be a way for any rich, sympathetic supporters to donate to Fats, because he certainly ain't gonna be taking home any scratch on the road unless he brings his accordion with him.
Plans for the accordion are, at this point, unknown.
