Long Walk off a Short Cliff
Date: Summer 1997
Location: The Catskills, NY

Description: For anyone who doesn't know me, I suffer from pretty acute acrophobia.  I get vertigo and often need to back away from the edges of cliffs.  However, I'm also someone who hates being limited by fear.  It's why I worked in lighting (hanging 25+' over head, or walking on 50' slotted catwalks).  I've found that if I'm in control, I'm fine.  If I'm leaning on a railing that could give way, I can't deal.  So when my friends went cliff jumping, it was a conquest I knew I'd have to just do.  If I remember correctly, I was the first one off, though it did take some pumping up before doing it.  I still never amazes me how short this cliff looks in this picture, and how many thousands of feet tall it looked when I was standing utop of it.
